ARENACROSS ON THE BEEB

January 11th, 2017.

Mike Bushell of BBC Breakfast popped into the Manchester Arena last week to check out the Arenacross Tour and get a taste of riding the hallowed AX ground.

Whilst the AX production crew and track builders carried on working to sculpt and dress the track and get it ready for the opening round, Bushell spent time talking with brothers Josh and Tye Jones from London who are both contesting the SuperMini class. Tye finished fourth in the 65cc category last year and Josh won the SW sector of the SuperMinis, and they told the broadcaster about they’ll handle the inter-family rivalry.

BBC viewers will know that the intrepid sports presenter isn’t one to shy away from a challenge and so, when he was offered the chance to ride the AX track, he ‘sort of’ jumped at the opportunity. With a little tuition and guidance from former top motocross runner, turned coach and motivator Dickie Dye, the novice rider took to one of the Arenacross famous rhythm sections on an I-Fly JK Yamaha 250cc crosser. With no experience and barely able to touch the ground, that took some doing!

Doors open for the second leg of the 2017 Arenacross Tour at 6.30pm this Saturday, the 14th of January, at the SSE Hydro Arena, Glasgow. Tickets are still available from the box office 0844 338 8000 or via www.arenacrossuk.com

The Arenacross television piece will be aired this Saturday morning, the 14th of January, on BBC Breakfast.
