FREE MOT REMINDERS

March 22nd, 2019.

Forgotten to get an MOT on your bike, car or van? It’s easily done as, unlike vehicle tax and insurance, automatic reminders aren’t currently sent out to owners.

However, there is a simple-to-use and free-of-charge GOV.UK service, developed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which makes it easy to get a reminder every year when your vehicle’s MOT is due.

Reminders for cars and bikes
You’ll get a reminder one month before your MOT is due. You’ll get another if you still haven’t had your vehicle tested two weeks before your MOT is due.

Reminders for lorries, buses and lorry trailers
You’ll get a reminder two months before your MOT is due. You’ll get another if you still haven’t had your vehicle tested one month before your MOT is due.

You can be fined up to £1,000 for driving a vehicle without a valid MOT.

To register for the service go to www.gov.uk/mot-reminder
