LECCY BIKES PLUG-IN GRANT GOES LIVE

April 21st, 2017.

The long-awaited OLEV grant is now available for eligible electric motorcycles, mopeds and scooters, with four motorcycle brands, and one moped, currently listed on the government website.

The government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) is the department tasked to provide grants to reduce the upfront cost of a new ultra-low emission vehicle. Utilising the grant will see the price of a qualifying motorcycle or scooter reduced by £1500 or twenty per cent of the total purchase cost, whichever is less. Unlike cars, electric motorcycles and scooters can be charged at home or work using normal plug sockets.

The machines currently eligible for the grant include the Torrot and Scutum electric scooters, both imported and distributed by Urban Moto Ltd. Jamie Masterman heads up Urban Moto who is delighted that the grant is finally available and confirms that now live, it’s having a real impact on sales. The firm’s Torrot Muvi Scooter is available as an L3e scooter with a range of 45 miles, or an L1e moped with a range of 49 miles. Both are available now with a choice of colour options.

Urban Moto is seeking new dealers in all areas of the UK. With very attractive trade margins, as well as demo discounts, going green could well be a smart move for dealers considering future expansion options.
