MET POLICE ISSUE MOTORCYCLE THEFT WARNING

October 13th, 2017.

Earlier this year the Metropolitan Police launched a campaign to advise riders on how to keep their scooters safe by using devices such as security chains.

The DVSA’s Head of Vocational Policy, Mark Winn, has now posted a blog, sharing with motorcycle trainers a number of the Met’s messages in an endeavour to encourage trainers to explain the importance of moped, scooter and motorcycle security to new and novice riders.

An incredible 15,000 motorcycles, mopeds and scooters were stolen in London - half of all vehicles stolen in the capital city. Many machines were stolen for use in other crimes such as snatch and grab robberies or as getaway vehicles.

There's a video embedded into Winn's blog which shows just how easy it can be to steal a powered two-wheeler.
