Silence has inaugurated its new production plant in Molins de Rei (Barcelona), the first installation in Spain and Europe that exclusively produces electric scooters and the battery packs that they use. With this milestone the company is approaching its goal: to provide solutions for more sustainable mobility.

The plant features the latest technology innovations and will increase Silence's production capacity by up to 10,000 annual electric scooters, as well as provide work for about 37 professionals, including engineers, technicians and commercials.

"This inauguration marks a new stage for the industry. Silence wants to be the generational relay of the traditional motorcycle brands with an accentuated respect for the environment. We work to introduce an alternative, comfortable and sustainable mobility in cities, where our customers, companies and administrations have already begun to renew their fleets with Silence," said Silence CEO Carlos Sotelo to open the event.

The director of AEDIVE (Business Association for the Development and Promotion of the Electric Vehicle in Spain), Arturo Pérez de Lucía, has exposed the situation of the electric vehicle and the arrival of the new Silence factory. "We are proud to have companies such us Silence in AEDIVE, which has already done its part as an industry link. Now it is the turn of public administrations, companies and citizens to respond to this challenge and bet on the electric mobility of two wheels”.

The new factory responds to the exponential increase in sales of Silence electric scooters. In 2016, the company broke all the records consolidating as the leader of sales in Spain, with a 40% of the market share. Silence closed the year with a 255% increase in sales over 2015, well above the 119.67% growth in the domestic market. The creation of these facilities will allow the company to double the billing in 2017 and will make possible its international expansion.

So far, Silence has been present in more than 14 countries around the world, such as France, Italy, Germany, UK, Netherlands, Portugal, Mexico, Australia or Thaití, among others. A list of countries in continuous extension, which will require a highly qualified workforce, in the manufacturing and development processes at the new production plant.

Silence is the only European manufacturer to assemble its own batteries. The BMS (Battery Management System) and all the electronics have been developed by its own team of engineers, which offers the maximum guarantee of quality.

In addition, the new facilities have commercial offices and marketing, a vehicle store and a hermetic battery cell, a parking lot and an outside area for charging electric vehicles.

Currently, Scutum Co. develops three models of vehicles. On the one hand, the model Silence S01 with removable battery Fast&Easy, for early adopters that bet for the mobility 'zero emissions'. On the other hand, the Silence S03 three-wheeled model, mainly intended for distribution, but will also be available for those individuals looking for greater stability. These are two projects that take parallel to the objective of becoming a reference of the delivery sector and reach the lead in sales in Europe with the model Silence S02. This latest model, available on the market since 2014, is perfect for jobs that involve transporting packages, takeaway, or objects and tools. It is also available as a police version and for mobility agents.
