January 8th, 2020.

In contrast to many retail markets, sales of motorcycles, scooters and other Powered Light Vehicles (PLVs) grew in 2019.

The year saw a total of 107,408 registrations, a 1.5 per cent increase over 2018 and the continuation of the trend seen since the financial crisis.

Demand for traditional motorcycles from enthusiasts remained stable, but growth was particularly evident among smaller vehicles, often used by commuters and delivery services.

With their light weight, ease of parking, and ultra-low or zero emissions, more and more people are

realising that powered light vehicles (PLVs) represent a perfect alternative to traffic-bound cars and vans, with the added benefit of reduced commuting costs and time. In addition, many electric PLVs feature removable batteries that can be charged at home or work, from a conventional wall socket.
