RIDE TO WORK – THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS

July 18th, 2017.

Ride to Work Week 2017 took place from the 19th to the 25th of June. The MCIA’s Stevie Muir shared some highlights from the seven days of bike-promoting events and, in the July/August issue of Motorcycle Trader – landing early next week – you can check out the full pictorial round up.

Said Stevie; “If you are on Facebook or Twitter, you can’t have failed to see at least one or two posts from the motorcycle community regarding Ride to Work Week. More than 150 businesses and organisations, from sole traders to the DVSA, supported this year’s programme of events, from staff ride-outs to offers and competitions for customers. One of the best things about Ride to Work Week is how thousands of motorcycle and scooter commuters share the superior qualities of their transport choice on social media with non-riding friends. One video post invited commuters to ‘tag a miserable friend who won’t be riding home tonight’ — it attracted over 50,000 views.”

This year’s MCIA campaign focused on what our roads would look like if just 10 per cent of motorists swapped to a motorcycle or scooter for their commute. It resulted in coverage in the Sun, Sunday Sun and the Mirror — the message reached beyond the converted.
