Today, the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCI) announced the departure of its chief executive David Taylor, as Suzuki GB welcomed him to the position of director, sales and marketing, within its motorcycle and ATV division.

David, 50, joined the MCI in September 2007 and since then, has conducted a strategic review of the MCI and the issues and opportunities facing the motorcycle industry.

Andrew Smith, chairman of the MCI board said: "David has had a very positive influence over the MCI in a short space of time, and his strategic direction and understanding of the safety, environmental and social issues facing the industry have been of great value. This has enabled us to clearly focus on - and create activities to promote - the enormous benefits that powered two wheelers can bring. He will leave the MCI in a healthy state and we are sorry to see him go, but wish him every success in the future and thank him for his work on behalf of the industry."

Suzuki GB managing director Yasuharu Osawa commented, "I am delighted to announce David's appointment here at Suzuki. David brings a wealth of experience with him from both the automotive world and the motorcycle industry specifically, and will undoubtedly make a big contribution to Suzuki's growing profile in the UK."

David's new role at Suzuki GB commences on the 10th November 2008 and his successor at MCI will be announced in due course.
