WESTON BEACHRACE SET FOR BATTLE OF THE GIANTS
October 3 2006.
The 2006 Weston Beach Race is set for the ultimate battle when arguably the world's two best off road motorcycle riders go to head around the 3.5 mile track on the North Somerset coast. Ten times world motocross champion, and 2004 beach race winner, Stefan Everts will now line up against double world enduro champion and 2002 beach race victor (on both two and four wheels!) David Knight. With Everts heading for retirement at the end of this year, albeit still at the top of his game as witnessed at the Motocross Des Nations two weeks ago, and Knight who has gone through the entire 2006 world enduro championship unbeaten, this could be prove to be the only time these two giants of the sport face each other in genuine competition.
Gareth Hockey, Director of promoters RHL Activities Ltd, is delighted to have reached agreement with both riders and said, "I can't begin to say how happy I am to have both these guys at the beach race. I am an admirer of both riders and to see them racing against each other at Weston will be fantastic. Since taking on the organising of the beach race we have strived to improve the event year on year, and this underlines our commitment to deliver the best possible showpiece for off road motorcycle sport."
With the beach race now just three weeks away there is still time to buy tickets in advance and enjoy considerable savings on 'race day' gate prices.
