In a significant boost for dealers, Piaggio the UK's leading scooter manufacturer has launched a new E-Commerce website which for the first time allows consumers to browse for and purchase a brand new Piaggio, Vespa or Gilera scooter online - with all sales directed through the consumer's local dealership.

In a move that opens up a new revenue stream to Piaggio's dealership community, consumers can now visit one of and  to purchase their scooter in a simple, user-friendly format.

When consumers complete the secure online transaction for their scooter, they select which dealer they would like to buy from and the payment is sent directly to the dealership, and managed from there - leaving dealers to arrange delivery and negotiate additional accessories sales. Piaggio meanwhile allocate the scooter to fulfil the new sale.

Tony Campbell, Group General Manager for Piaggio UK comments: "For an industry which has traditionally been slow to embrace the internet world this represents a major step forward for both dealers and end-consumers, demonstrating our commitment to industry leadership. The new sites, fully managed by Piaggio UK, will in effect work as an online sales office for each signed up dealer. We'd urge those dealers not yet committed to contact us immediately to get involved."

Dealerships who want to sign up to the service should contact Piaggio directly.
