Planet Knox, the British based world leader in body protection, has launched its most innovative back-protector yet.

The Ricochet back protector combines the best features of both "soft" and "hard" back-protectors. It absorbs massive amounts of energy from an impact, comfortably exceeding the new European standard for back-protectors [EN1621-2] AND can withstand repeated impacts. The Ricochet achieves this thanks to a unique honeycomb structure, which rebounds when impacted, while also absorbing huge amounts of energy. Not content with improving the function of back-protectors, Knox has improved fit too! The Ricochet is produced in 7 sizes - one for racing, 3 male for road, 2 female for road and junior too! Plus there are new quick-release shoulder straps for added comfort and an inspection panel to check for post-crash damage to the honeycomb structure. Retail prices start at £49.99 for the junior back protector, with the 9-plate race size for men selling for a modest £89.99. The Ricochet replaces the Knox KC2000 series back protectors.

The Knox Cross Shirt I has been developed from the hugely successful Cross Shirt, which was launched at last year's NEC Show, and has been modified in response to requests from competitive off-road riders. Significant updates include a fully moulded 1-piece chest protector and main zipper moved from the front to the side of the garment. The elbow & shoulder protectors remain externally mounted but for 2004 so is the back protector. Neoprene wrist bands have been added to ensure that the cuffs remain firmly in place. Produced in sizes from XS-XXL, the Cross Shirt I sells for £129.99 and will be offered in addition to the orginal Cross Shirt (now renamed Cross Shirt II).

Knox also manufactures the best-selling Cold Killers range of wind resistant bike wear.
