April 15 2004.

Ken Salmon (second right) retired at the beginning of April after 15 years as delivery driver for Colin Appleyard Motorcycles.

On hand to present Ken with a 'thank you' cheque on behalf of the company were Colin & Peggy Appleyard.

At the same time the staff clubbed together to buy him a power washer as he is fanatical about keeping his car clean.

At the presentation Colin paid tribute to Ken's dedication to his job. "During all his years with us Ken never had a day off sick. His job entailed delivering bikes the length and breadth of the country and it was not unusual for him to set off and deliver a Honda Goldwing in Cornwall at 8 o'clock in the morning and be back in Keighley in the afternoon. He was very popular with everyone. We will miss him."

Last Friday was also celebration time for three other members of staff. Mechanic
Bob Akrigg, Service Manager Malcolm Wright and Sales Director Craig Holmes have all notched up 25 years' service. Seven members of staff have now reached the 25 year milestone.

Over the years the company has won many awards and achieved major successes. However, in Colin's eyes, one achievement stands out: "Without a doubt our greatest accomplishment has been retaining our staff".

The presentation also coincided with the 25th Anniversary of Colin Appleyard being appointed the UK's first official Suzuki Car Dealership.
