DFL AWARDED FOR REDUCING CASUALTIES
November 30th 2004.

Transport for London (TfL) has been awarded with a Prince Michael Road Safety Award for reducing road casualties in the capital. The award is sponsored by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCI), and was presented at TfL's headquarters in Victoria Street, London.

TfL's initiatives include BikeSafe London - a motorcycling publicity campaign, a bus-lane exemption trial, and the exemption of bikes and scooters from the congestion charge.

TfL has also set up a working group with representatives from the Metropolitan Police Service, motorcycling organisations and the London Boroughs.

The MCI reports an eight per cent decrease in motorcycle casualties in 2003, despite the fact motorcycling in London has increased.
