Based on its market-leading System 21 alarm upgrade, Datatool has developed a 'plug-in' alarm that will enable many Honda owners to upgrade their OE security immobiliser to Thatcham Category 1.
Apart from the additional security features, including a 117db siren that is triggered if the vehicle is moved, the seat is removed or the wiring is cut, most insurers also offer discounted premiums for such highly-rated hardware.
The System 21, (so-called because it upgrades the immobiliser from Category 2 to Category 1), is specifically designed to 'plug in' to the existing wiring loom on the following models from Honda; CB900 Hornet, CBR600 RR, CBR900RR Fireblade (2002/3), CBR1000RR Fireblade.
A key benefit of 'plug-in' systems is that they require much less work to fit than universal systems, thus reducing labour and also reducing the risk of a fitting error.
Datatool has incorporated several intelligent features into this security device's electronic 'brain', such as an "intelligent" sleep mode for a motorcycle that monitors battery condition and reacts accordingly, protecting the battery from excessive current drain.  This is complimented by a PIN over-ride, that allows the owner to program in their own PIN number to over-ride the system in the event of battery failure/key fob loss.  There is even the possibility to customise the System 21 by choosing from eight different siren tones.
The Datatool System 21 is supplied with two waterproof and shockproof remote control key fobs and has a suggested selling price of £169.99- (inc. vat) plus fitting. The price includes a 3-year warranty.
