Close Motor Finance is taking part in National Motorcycle Week (17th to 25th July) by visiting its dealers and raising money for charity, Riders for Health.
Tomorrow (19th July), Close's Motorcycle Development Managers (and die-hard bike enthusiasts), Mike Chilvers and Phil Holdsworth, will ride their dealer-donated Triumph Rocket 3 (donated by Robinsons of Rochdale) and Harley Davidson Road King (donated by St Ledger Harley Davidson) from Southampton to Doncaster.  Stopping at Close branches and dealers along the route, Mike and Phil will collect money for Riders for Health, a biking charity which provides motorcycles and training to enable people in Africa to travel to remote villages.
Mike Chilvers, who started junior motocross at the age of nine, subsequently became a professional mountain bike racer, and he now owns a ZX6R, Harley-Davidson 1200 Sportster and a 175 Malossi-modded Aprilia scooter. Mike said: "Our goals in this ride are twofold. We want to confirm our commitment to our bike dealers, in addition to demonstrating our dedication to those who are less privileged in Africa."
Added Phil Holdsworth, whose 'fleet' includes a Ducati 916 Senna, Triumph Bonneville T100 and a Ducati Monster M600: "Face-to-face time with our bike dealers is of utmost importance. Mike and I know that the Close motto 'close and personal' extends beyond our approach to finance and into the way we handle our relationships with dealers. We want our dealers to know we sincerely share their love of bikes. What better way to do this than visit them during National Motorcycle Week, while simultaneously raising money for a great cause?"
Close Motor Finance, which acquired a substantial proportion of the loan portfolio of Singer & Friedlander Finance in January 2005, has pledged its commitment to motorcycle dealers across the UK. As part of its goal to become the UK's motorcycle dealer of choice, the company hired the two national team Motorcycle Development Managers, Mike Chilvers and Phil Holdsworth. Within one month, the new team increased the division's income by 20 per cent and set itself the target of doubling the division's turnover by 2006.
