Mike Owen is the new head of the RMI's Motorcycle Retailers Association and Motorcycle Rider Training Association.
A life-long motorcycle enthusiast, Owen is taking on the role alongside his existing responsibilities as head of aftermarket and used car sales within the RMI's independent membership division.
Previously with RL Polk subsidiary Motor Industry Training and Consultancy (MITAC), Owen has been working in the sector in dealerships, consultancy and training for 36 years, mainly in the UK but with experience of Europe, Asia, and North America.
He is looking forward to the challenges offered by this new assignment. He said: "The motorcycle sector is going through a period of change. There are a number of key issues that will affect the market in the next few years which includes the Government's Motorcycle Strategy as well regulatory pressures in the UK and Europe, including the second and third European driving license directives and the constantly changing sales channels.
'I am delighted to be in a position to be able to help our members adapt," he added.
Owen has been appointed to the role following an internal restructure. Previous incumbent Frank Finch has been appointed RMI director of standards, but will continue to support Owen and the members in the short term to assure a smooth handover.
