September 9th 2005.
More than 1,000 amateur bikers entered the opening rounds of Dunlop's 'Ultimate Biker' competition. Through a series of questionnaires and elimination tests, the number was whittled down to 24 determined riders. Over four hard days of track, road, classroom and off-road disciplines, six finalists were selected.
On Tuesday 13th September, the six hopefuls will be put through their paces at Mallory Park in four disciplines - trials, motocross, road-racing and supermoto. Instruction and machines will be supplied by Wayne Braybrooke (Enduro), Nigel Birkett (Trials) and Ady Smith (Supermoto). The Yamaha R6 race bikes are courtesy of Rob McElnea's Virgin Mobile Cup series.
When the arduous day is over, competitors will depart for the National Sports Centre, at Lilleshall, to be put through their paces in a variety of gym tests including a cross-country and mountain bike biathlon.
The objective for each of the six finalists is to become one of three entrants in the prestigious Dunlop Moto1 event, to be held on October 15th and 16th at Mallory Park.
In the Dunlop Moto1 event, they will come up against some of the best motorcyclists in the UK, from the world of road-racing, moto-cross, speedway and trials.
