JAPANESE EXPORTS DOWN IN JULY BUT VALUE UP

Japanese motorcycle exports in July 2005 was recorded as 88,452 units, down 1,490 units or 1.7% as compared with 89,942 units recorded for July 2004.

Up to 50cc exports: 4, 383 units, down 5,742 units or 56.7% 
51 - 125cc exports:  23,520 units, down 8,521 units or 26.6% 
126 - 250cc exports: 16,544 units, up 1,455 units or 9.6% 
Over 250cc exports:  44,005 units, up 11,318 units or 34.6% 

Total value of motorcycles exported for July 2005 was $462.48 million, including $340.28 million for vehicles and $122.2 million for parts. This is an increase of $62.39 million or 15.6% as compared with $400.09 million recorded July 2004.
