Despite the weather conditions on the Sunday, the 24th annual Weston Beach Race on October 21st/22nd will go down as one of the best ever. Record entries in all classes, Youth, Quad, and Solo; arguably the highest quality line up ever assembled; and a large crowd on both days to witness some superb race and freestyle display action.
With the beach and sea front now returned to the residents of Weston and North Somerset all spick and span, promoters RHL Activities have begun to plan for the 25th anniversary spectacular in twelve months time.
Reflecting on this year's event, Gareth Hockey, director of RHL Activities said, "Despite the dodgy weather on Sunday it was a fantastic weekend. The quads and sidecars put on a tremendous race on Saturday, and the Youth riders really got stuck in and showed everyone that the beach race really does provide a platform for showcasing how off road motorcycle sport can be a safe, fun and challenging environment for young people. To have Stefan Everts here for his last UK competitive appearance alongside David Knight is also something we are pleased to have been able to put on for the fans. The H Bomb squad freestyle display team were truly awesome, and I'm pleased to say that Christian Gagnon is well on the road to recovery and talking about returning next year to perform the 360 degree flip. But most important of all, both Phil Roberts and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped organise or take part in the beach race. It is a massive task to run the event and without the support of all parties it would be impossible, although I would like to say a special thank you to the marshals, officials, and first aid who stayed out in some pretty poor conditions throughout the weekend. I know we will have made some mistakes along the way - we are always learning - but we will do our best to continue to improve the event and make the 25th anniversary next October something very special."
