Bridgestone's Battlax BT-016 tyre has been chosen as original equipment (OE) for Triumph's best selling bike, the Street Triple, as of this month.

Bridgestone has 100 per cent share of OE on the model which, like the BT-016, has been recognised for revolutionising its class, making proven high performance technology accessible to all riders.

The BT-016s have proved a perfect partner to the Street Triple which offers class-leading performance thanks to its sporty engine based on the Triumph Daytona 675 and the iconic looks and aggression of its big brother, the Speed Triple.

This latest announcement tops what has been a successful year for the BT-016. The tyre, which successfully transferred Bridgestone's five-layer compound technology, usually used to produce hand-made MotoGP tyres, onto the production line for the first time, has received praise from riders and racers from all backgrounds.

Following its launch in Jerez in March 2008, riders have been impressed by all aspects of the BT-016, from its performance in the wet and dry, to its handling, stability and longevity - providing better value in terms of £s per mile.

The biking press has welcomed the technological advances the BT-016 has brought to the biking industry, hailing the tyres' multiple compound technology as revolutionising the tyre market, allowing a road tyre to give track performance.

The BT-016 is also a commercial success story, having contributed significantly in driving sales in the hypersport tyre market as well has having OE fitment shares in other high profile brands such as Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki.

Other highlights include a shortlisting in the 'Tyre Product of the Year' category at the prestigious Motorcycle News Awards and being chosen by racing legend, Ron Haslam, for use at his Race School at Donington Park, continuing Bridgestone's 13 year relationship providing tyres for the academy.

Gary Hartshorne, motorcycle sales and technical at Bridgestone comments: "Being chosen as OE on the Street Triple is the icing on the cake for what has been a fantastic year for the Battlax B-016. When we launched the BT-016, we knew it was an exciting development and hoped that the industry and riders would feel the same. The BT-016 is the most technically advanced road and street tyre available on the market and it has more than proved that in its first year.

"The BT-016 tyre is about removing the compromise that riders have to make on tyre choice and delivering optimum performance both on the road and track, with customers benefiting from the expertise that has seen Bridgestone succeed in the MotoGP arena."

The front and rear construction of the Battlax BT-016 is based on Bridgestone's proven technology, which enhances slide control and line-holding through corners and provides good shock absorption. Also, by using 3D hydro planning software in the tyres development, Bridgestone has achieved excellent wet-weather performance.

The BT-016 is OE equipment on high profile brands such as Yamaha and Suzuki and is also available in the replacement market and comes in four front-wheel sizes and seven rear-wheel sizes.
