Later this week, Phoenix Distribution's Marketing Manager, Wendy Hearn, will set off on a two day, 120 mile cycle ride, from Woore in Staffordshire to Abersoch in North Wales.

Alongside 16 cycling friends - all ladies - the ride will take place to raise money for the University Hospital of North Staffordshire Breast Care Trust Fund to assist the hospital in setting up a 'Look Good Feel Better Workshop', including a wig facility, for women in the Staffordshire area who are going through chemotherapy.

The group organiser, Fiona Ford, whose idea and planning has bought the ride to fruition, is currently being treated for breast cancer and after encountering first- hand the devastating effect cancer has, she is hoping that this facility will help to give some self confidence back to women going through treatment.

Previous cycling experience for the group was limited to the flat tracks of the Peak District's Manifold Valley, but over the past few months of training and experiencing the benefits cycling brings, the group are now all real enthusiasts who take their cycling very seriously and are looking forward to the challenging trek through North Wales, especially across the winding roads of the Snowdonia National Park.

Commenting Wendy Hearn said, "We've all trained really hard for this and cycling has definitely become a bit of a passion for all of us. It's also been great to make new friends and words cannot express how much admiration the team have for Fiona in setting this up, she really is an inspiration. I'd also like to thank everyone in the industry who has donated to the ride, it is very much appreciated."
