October 16 2009.

Today the 67th International Motorcycle Show of Milan was presented to the press. This is a summary of the information provided:

With 6 pavilions, a net exhibition area of 55,000 m2 and 1,290 brands displaying their products, even in a year as difficult as this, the Milan Show offers trade visitors and the public at large an overview of the motorcycle industry that is truly representative of worldwide production at its best.

There was some concern that the defection of Honda and Yamaha might trigger that domino effect that had led most manufactures to stay away from this year's events and had caused their cancellation, making the Milan Show into the only trade show of 2009 to be totally devoted to motorcycles.

But in actual fact the example of the two Japanese giants was not followed by other major companies and all the space available has been booked, while as many as 138 Exhibitors are still on a waiting list (and only a few will find room, taking the place of those who send in a last-minute cancellation - a physiological but limited phenomenon).

One of the historic characteristics of the Milan Show, its international profile, which has always been very significant, is even better this year compared to the previous editions: foreign brands, in fact, account for a 49.49% share of the participation - in 2008 it was 33.96.

Given this state of affairs, it is no surprise that we are getting a continuous flow of requests for accreditation from trade visitors and journalists from all over the world: we are expecting professional visitors from more than 100 different countries. And, like every year, we are looking forward to a veritable invasion of motorbike fans: not only because, as we have seen, EICMA 2009 is the only automotive Show of the year, but also because the novelties announced by the Exhibitors are countless and extremely attractive (the manufactures are reacting to the crisis by generating innovative ideas and proposals), and because the exhibition will be flanked again this year by "Motolive", a fantastic container of competitions, test rides, driving lessons, shows, performances and music, distributed over an 80,000 m2 outdoor ground.

One last treat: the novelty of this edition is called "Green Planet": a Show within the Show dedicated to hybrid and electric vehicles.
