The ContiRoadAttack 2 from Continental is a new development for sports and sports touring bikes. Continental's R&D engineers in Germany have adapted the tyre tread and compound to accommodate the latest developments in tyre technology. This means that this tyre achieves superior performance and greater wet weather capability than its popular predecessor. Also as a result, handling and mileage has also been increased.

These results were achieved through a range of design measures in tyre development. Continental's Traction Skin Technology, for example, uses Traction Skin, a revolutionary tactile tread surface. The micro-roughness of the tread optimizes the mechanical adhesion to the road. . Thanks to Traction Skin technology the RoadAttack 2, has the safest and fastest tyre warm up available. This makes the new ContiRoadAttack 2 the first tyre to offer complete riding safety as soon as it is fitted.

The new tyre also offers a further safety benefits on sports and sports touring bikes, thanks to its 'Continuous Compound Technology' (CCT) designed to improve mileage through a wear resistant zenith area and increase safety whilst cornering with a higher grip area around the shoulder. The use of 'Black Chili Compound' containing silica and carbon black, as used in the racing world, means faster warm-up times, something that is important for grip, especially on wet roads.

The tyre structure was also redesigned to achieve greater riding dynamics and grip. 'Dynamic-Ride-Technology'(DRT), comprised of a patented steel belt construction and a unique contour, has been developed to improve motorcycle handling and control. This involved marrying the steel belt casing with the special tyre contour to further enhance safe handling and precise steering response.

The new ContiRoadAttack 2 will be available from Cambrian Tyres at the start of the 2010 season. Continental will be producing the tyre in six front sizes and seven for the rear.

Approvals have already been obtained for over 250 machines from manufacturers including BMW, Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha.
