The UK arm of Italian diagnostic tooling manufacturer TEXA, held its 2010 distributor conference last week at the Heritage Motor Centre, Warwickshire.

Founded in 1992, the company enjoyed rapid growth in its own domestic market before launching its range of products in Europe.

In 2005, TEXA set up a UK office in Nelson, Lancashire and the team responsible for penetrating the UK diagnostics market has never looked back.

Despite a troubled economic climate, 2009 alone saw a growth of 19% across the bike, car, truck and agricultural sectors for TEXA UK.

In terms of market share within the motorcycle industry, the UK division sits in an enviable position of being in a class of its own with unique products that are virtually free of competition. Penetration of TEXA product into UK motorcycle workshops and service centres is continuing to increase.

New to the market, and unveiled to its distributors for the first time at the conference, is the AXONE Smart, a lower-priced version of TEXA's hugely popular hand-held all-in-one diagnostic tool, the AXONE Direct. It is designed to allow the technician to carry out simple and effective auto-diagnosis, is fully updatable via bespoke software and is equipped with a host of features which, claims the TEXA team, makes it an indispensible service tool for the smaller service operation. Its multitude of applications means it can be used on motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, cars and light commercials.

Available around mid-April and with a price tag of £2000 for the motorcycle version, TEXA UK's Dave Tempest said, "The AXONE Smart offers the full diagnostic capability at a lower cost and is something we believe will move in volume. Offering a 'competitively-priced' product , has been achieved however without sacrificing Texa's renowned quality and functionality, but by removing some of the additional technical features and functions of the main product range."

TEXA motorcycle-specific products are distributed in the UK via ProBike. Telephone 01604 660555.
