Knox Gilets have become increasingly popular since their introduction last year, because they are designed to give maximum protection for minimum effort. For 2007 Knox has updated the top-of-the-range Gilet Air with extra features to make it even easier to live with.

Wearing a Knox Gilet is as simple as putting on a jacket but with the added benefit of an integral back protector and a removable chest protector, making it ideal for riders who need to get in and out of their gear several times over the course of a day's riding (think touring, racing, track days, etc).

The Gilet Air is built for summer riding and uses a rip-proof sport mesh for breathability. Its ultra-light super-protective Contour back protector gets the VENTURI cooling system for this year, which channels body heat away from the rider and forces it up and out of the top. Safety is a top priority for Knox and the Contour hugs the spine and comfortably exceeds the requirements of EN1621-2, which is the toughest ever standard for back protectors. Yet the entire garment weighs only 1100g (lighter than most helmets) so it's unobtrusive.

Another new feature is the introduction of the IPS system (increased posture support) on the adjustable side straps, which are now fixed onto the mesh material so they won't flap around when undone. The generous chest protector has been re-shaped to cover the thorax and upper rib cage too, increasing comfort.

Zip up and go in safety with the Knox Gilet Air, which is produced in a wide variety of sizes (from X-Small to XX-Large) and sells in the shops for £139.99.
