|METZELER SUPERSTOCK CLASSES PROVING A HIT

With 120 riders running 'over the counter' Metzeler Interact Racetec tyres in the Superstock and Triumph Triple classes, the German brand sees the MCE British Superbike series as it's most prestigious and prolific racing series in the World.
As the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 series reaches its halfway point, three riders on different marques of machines are pulling away from the packed 40 rider field. Danny Buchan (Kawasaki) currently leads Tristan Palmer (Honda) from a resurgent Richard Cooper (BMW), as the three riders seem to be getting the most out of their production based machinery and tyres.
Eighteen year old Danny exploded into the class as he won in his first time out Brands Hatch but Tristan won at Oulton Park, Croft and Knockhill with Richard Cooper taking victory at Thruxton and the latest round at Snetterton.
Whilst Buchan's MSS Colchester Kawasaki team and Cooper's Buildbase squad both run in Superstock and British Superbike, Palmer's well run GBMoto outfit have entered Metzeler Superstock for the first time this season with Honda CBR1000RR machinery. Team owner Mark Smith- Halvorsen explained, "We're obviously having a great first season in the Metzeler National Superstock class with Tristan. We have a long history in World and UK Endurance and we felt that entering Superstock gives a great return of competitive high-profile racing versus budget spent. We have a five year plan to eventually challenge for wins in British Superbike. There's a lot of talk about Superbike racing being production based but we all know that's not that strictly true, whereas with Superstock, the bikes are 'over the counter' machines with a decent exhaust, suspension and brakes."
Tristan loves the feedback he gets from the Metzelers and the combination of the tyres, his riding and the power delivery of the Fireblade means we get consistency and durability. Tris broke the lap record three times at Knockhill using the Racetec Interact K2 and likes the feel of the carcass."
Series leader Danny Buchan graduated to the class after finishing third in a hectic Metzeler Superstock 600cc class last year and made an immediate impact at round one at Brands Hatch, as he fought off Australian Supersport Champion Jason O' Halloran for the win. HM Plant Honda official entrant O' Halloran went on to injure himself at Knockhill. Buchan said, "I've really taken to this class and the feel from the Metzelers is so similar, we just have loads more power on the Kawasaki ZX-10R!"
BMW favourite Richard Cooper added, "It's been a steady start to the season but I think we've definitely found our feet with the two wins. This weekend at Snetterton has been great, we've been at least half a second quicker than anyone else all through qualifying and then to get the win was fantastic. The bike hasn't missed a beat and nor have the tyres. In fact, we only had to use a single rear for qualifying. We didn't need to put a second one on, and it got us to pole - very impressive! I did full race distance on a rear tyre on Friday and by the end it still looked good, even in this incredible heat."
As well as supplying the control tyres for the 1000ccc and 600cc National Superstock championships until 2015, the Metzeler Racetec tyres are also used in the Triumph Triple Challenge which has supplied great racing this year as part of the support for the British Superbike series.

The Metzeler Racetec Interact tyre range has three compounds; the K3, a durable fast road tyre plus the K1 and K2 race/trackday compounds. In Superstock 1000 riders can choose from the K1 or K2 front and all use the K2 rear whilst the 600 class have a fixed K1 front, K2 rear option for these smaller machines.
Exciting new models including the BMW S1000RR, Aprilia RSV and Triumph Speed Triple all now utilize the Metzeler Racetec Interact K3 tyres as original equipment.
