Two Close Motor Finance Managers have raised £3,000 for an African charity by riding from Southampton to Doncaster - via Scotland!
Mike Chilvers and Gareth Walker rode from Southampton to Scotland, collecting sponsorship from motorcycle dealers en-route, before finishing back at the company's head office in Doncaster.
Proceeds went to Riders for Health. The pair handed over a cheque to Riders for Health on their national day of champions, which preceded the start of the Donington MotoGP.
The ride took three days, with the intrepid duo setting off from Southampton, calling at dealers in Gloucester, Peterborough, Leicester, Coventry and Birmingham before finally arriving in Newcastle at the end of day one after a gruelling 12 hours.
Day two saw the team calling at dealers in Edinburgh, prior to arrival at the Livingston Offices of Close Motor Finance. They then pushed on to Glasgow, eventually reaching Carlisle. The final day took in York and Leeds en-route to a well-earned finish in Doncaster.
Mike Chilvers said: "We ran a very tight schedule as we chose to visit the maximum number of dealers to get plenty of sponsorship. We did a similar event last year, but it was only over two days and didn't incorporate Scotland, so this year's ride was no small undertaking."
The team had its nationwide sales team visiting dealers up and down the country collecting donations prior to the event to help secure the £3,000.
Honda UK showed great generosity to the cause and provided Mike and Gareth with a brand new Honda Goldwing Motorcycle for use on the epic journey.
anet Wilson, Managing Director of Close Motor Finance, said: "We are really proud of Mike and Gareth and were delighted to welcome them safely back to Doncaster at the end of their journey."
