January 5 2012.

In this inflationary environment, price rises are inevitable. Material and labour costs in the producing nations continue to spiral. We can therefore expect the usual round of price increases from January 1st 2012, both at a trade and a consumer level.

Oxford, on the other hand, will be freezing prices on its vast range of motorcycle locks, covers, battery optimisers, clothing and accessories. There will be no price rises on these products in January.

According to Andrew Hammond, managing director: "Oxford's business has expanded successfully over the last few years, but there is simply no room for complacency. The high street remains an extremely competitive environment and we want to put our dealers in a position to sell as much of our product as possible. Of course, we cannot predict what will happen in future, but we are committed to doing everything we can to provide a stable price environment for our customers. To this end, we are absorbing cost price increases which are over 20% in some cases".

The company has doubled in size over the last five years, developing and absorbing dealer-critical products and brands along the way. The company's most successful product is still the ever-green HotGrip, which it exports to over 60 countries alongside some 5,000 other Oxford-branded products.

Following a bumper 2011, the market will enjoy another record number of new product launches in 2012, described by Hammond as, "the lifeblood of growth."

"Dealers need something fresh to entice consumers back through the door on a regular basis. We want to drive more footfall than is generated by just bike purchases or servicing," says Hammond.

Oxford has more than doubled its turnover since 2006, when it moved into purpose-built premises in Witney, Oxfordshire. The company believes that by remaining in touch with the market, supporting its dealers and being realistic about the prevailing trading environment, it can continue to grow profitably into 2012 and beyond. To this end, it has commissioned a doubling in size of its distribution facility in Witney, Oxfordshire, to more than 80,000 sq ft and will be looking to recruit more quality industry professionals to facilitate this growth.
