December 23 2003. MetaSystem, one of Europe's leading specialists in motorcycle security and safety, has been awarded a world-wide contract to supply Benelli with an insurance-approved alarm/immobiliser.

The Italian manufacturer is specifying the e587T-B, which is manufactured by MetaSystem Group company Gemel SpA, following a successful pilot scheme in Italy and the UK.

Seventy-one per cent of UK buyers involved in the scheme opted to have the MC1 Thatcham-accredited system installed.

The dealer-fit option was launched in conjunction with Benelli's Tornado Tre 900. The bike is equipped with a pre-wired loom for direct connection to the system's CPU and dealers are supplied with a dedicated kit containing everything required for a professional fitting.

Ricky Ross, Aftersales Manager for Three Cross Motorcycles, UK distributor for Benelli, told International Dealer News: "We are delighted to be teaming up with MetaSystem, which is one of the world's leading security manufacturers, to boost the Tornado OS programme with a proven anti-theft device."

The e587T-B is operated by two anti-scan, anti-grab, remote-control transmitters and is resin filled to make it completely waterproof and resistant to attack and vibration fatigue.

Features include passively-arming immobilisation, an integral electronic microchip movement sensor and a diagnostic LED, which indicates where tampering has occurred and acts as a visual deterrent.

There is a secure override facility, which is activated via an individual PIN, as well as an integral battery back-up siren.
