BRITISH SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP REACHES HALFWAY POINT WITH FOUR OUT OF SIX ‘SHOWDOWN’ PLACES TAKEN BY ÖHLINS RIDERS
July 18 2012.

Öhlins Racing is carefully monitoring the prestigious British Superbike Championship at its halfway mark, as four of the six 'Showdown' riders sport the distinctive gold forks and shocks. These top riders will be nominated 'Title Fighters', have their points equalled and will then fight for the BSB crown over the final three races.

The four Öhlins runners come from three different manufacturers and teams, illustrating the level playing field of the racing; Tommy Hill and Noriyuki Haga (Swan Yamaha), Michael Laverty (Samsung Honda) plus the surprise team and rider combination of Tommy Bridewell on the series rookie squad; Supersonic BMW.

Tommy has eked out a lead over his fellow title protagonists as the series rolls into round 7 of 12 at the iconic Brands Hatch GP circuit this weekend. The local rider and defending Superbike Champion is no stranger to the brand having been 'Going for Gold' since his Superbike debut on the Virgin Yamaha YZF-R1 in 2004.

Tommy's experienced team-mate Noriyuki Haga is also well versed with his suspension equipment having utilised it in WSB and GP's for most of his career. In a mirror image, US equivalent Josh Hayes continues to dominate the AMA series on his similarly equipped Yamaha YZF-R1.

The renowned suspension brand takes keen interest in the series and will be looking to take their 15th BSB title in just 17 years.

A new online magazine from Öhlins 'Performance' celebrates this success amongst many others with a full BSB feature. See; www.ohlinsnews.com

Superbike competitors are equipped with the latest generation of Öhlins FGR 200 Superbike forks, featuring the new TTX25 cartridge design with its lighter yet more rigid outer tubes for improved rider feel.
