Motorcyclists are renowned for their charitable work but it doesn't stop there, motorcycle dealership CMC Motorcycles of Brindley Business Park, Cannock, recently donated twelve brand new helmets to Walton Hall Community Special School in Eccleshall, Staffs, following a request by the BMF through Trader Daily News

The school, set in its extensive grounds, has a motorcycle riding area where the children have the opportunity to learn to ride quad and trials bikes, as well as undertake other more traditional activities. The motorcycle speeds are low but nevertheless protection is essential and over time the student's helmets were looking a bit worse for wear.

With school budgets tight, the British Motorcyclists Federation's Chief Events Marshal, Mandi Neary, whose son Conal attends Walton Hall, put out a plea for helmets through Trader Daily News and CMC Motorcycles immediately came up with the offer of twelve LS2 helmets worth nearly £1000!

Accepting the helmets from CMC Aftersales Manager Andrew Fern, Walton Hall School Headmaster Duncan Gorwood said: "This is a fantastic gesture from CMC. Our students love to ride the bikes, but as a motorcyclist myself, I wouldn't let them do so without helmets, so this generous offer is truly appreciated."

For CMC Motorcycles Andrew said: "We were only to happy to help. Motorcycling in all its forms is terrific fun and if we can spread some of that fun to these youngsters, then that's fantastic!"

Catering for children from 11 to 19 with a huge range of disabilities from ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) to PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities), the school follows the ethos of a secondary mainstream school, but with greater emphasis on the individual needs and abilities of each student. The aim is for their students to become fully involved in not only the school community but also the community in which they live.
