January 11 2012

A new online video has been launched by the Driving Standards Agency explaining all the new rules for learner riders that come into effect  from the 19th of January 2013.

The new rules include changes to the motorcycles learners can ride and the age they have to be to ride them.

The 19th of January is also the date when the rules for riding motor tricycles will change.

After 19 January 2013, a provisional licence will only cover learners to ride motor tricycles if they have a physical disability.

Driving tests for 3-wheeled vehicles will only be available for physically disabled riders.

Provisional licence holders without a disability who want to ride motor tricycles will have to pass compulsory basic training and theory and practical tests on a 2-wheeled motorcycle (category A1 or A).
