Following the announcement that Michael Dunlop will join the factory Honda TT Legends team for 2013, comes the news that he has elected to use market-leading brand Shoei helmets as his new choice of head protection.

Twenty-three year-old Dunlop already has three TT wins under his belt in the 600cc and Supersport classes. Now he has his sights firmly set on snatching the Superbike TT title and becoming the first rider to topple new team-mate John McGuiness' nine-year premier class reign.

Dunlop will be wearing the best selling Shoei X-Spirit II, with a modern twist on his classic design by British design firm Rage Designs. This latest rider/manufacturer partnership underlines Shoei's continuing commitment to road racing.

"I'm really looking forward to this year's racing. It's a big opportunity for me and I want to grab it with both hands and see what I can make of it," said Dunlop. "I have a winning machine and tyre package and now with the confidence that comes from wearing Shoei, I can concentrate on the day job of winning races."

"We're delighted to have this opportunity to work with Michael and believe it's something of a coup that he has chosen us. Working alongside our roster of already great championship riders Michael will be providing us with great feedback on our racing helmets performance," confirmed Steve Clifford, sales director.

"The Dunlop family is steeped in racing history and so too is Shoei. Reliability, performance and technology is a massive factor when it comes to the great road races such as Northwest 200 and TT and Shoei helmets have these factors as a core belief of their constantly evolving product development. Michael feels he can win a big bike race at the TT and everybody Shoei is looking forward to being a part of that success."
