R&G has released its Carbon Tail Sliders to protect the seat unit of a bike from light drops and wear from boot scuffs and luggage use.

The introduction of this new form of defence is part of the motorcycle crash protection leader's continued mission to help protect motorcycles from damage and, in turn, save riders' money.

A similar concept to the firm's Tank Sliders, released late 2011, the Tail Sliders are constructed from a combination of superlight and super-strong carbon and Kevlar. The 'Sliders' are precision-moulded for a perfect close fit of the intended seat unit at the point which protrudes and is most likely to make contact with the ground.

With replacement seat units being an extremely expensive piece of bodywork to replace, R&G Tail Sliders start at £70 per pair and are currently available for a wide range of popular sports and naked bikes, with more fitments added continually.

The Sliders don't cover any existing logos placed on the bikes and are supplied with a tube of silicone needed to attach them to the tail plastics.

Permitting the silicone is used, the guards can be removed without damaging paint and refitted or replaced, if need be.
