Two-stroke scooters are still in high demand, but until last year their fate hung in the balance. Now, thanks to new advancements in technology, the new Euro 3 emission regulations have relaxed the rules on 2-stroke engines, paving the way for Kymco to add a new two-stroke 50cc version of its popular Agility RS Scooter to its 2013 line-up.

Compared to old 'smoky' two-strokes, Kymco's new RS50 features an advanced exhaust recirculation system, making it much greener and cleaner to comply with the Euro 3 requirements.

"There is still a huge demand for 2-stroke machines in the UK because of the improved acceleration and performance they inherently provide over 4-stroke models, but unfortunately there aren't many new models around anymore because of the emission regulations," said Ian Kidson, managing director of Masco, the sole UK distributor for Kymco and winner of BDN's Scooter Franchise of the Year award.

"The RS 50 and 125 have always been popular choices with young riders travelling to work or college. They are rightly positioned in terms of styling and price, so it makes sense to add a 2-stroke version to the range and give our customers more choice."

Powered by Kymco's single cylinder, air-cooled engine, the 2-stroke RS50 has the same high technical specification as its 4-stroke counterpart, as well as equally impressive sports design features. They both also come with a class-leading host of features as standard, including electric and kick-start, automatic choke, lockable under-seat storage box, steering lock, rear carrier, centre and side stands.

To differentiate the models, Kymco has added a new lift-up twin seat and backrest to the 2-stoke version, and in the UK it will only be available in gloss black.

With a price tag of just £1399.00, the new RS50 provides a value for money alternative for young riders wanting to combine the benefits of a 2-stroke engine with a stylish and economical mode of commuter transport.

Kymco's new RS50 2-stroke scooter will arrive in the UK this month and comes with a 2-year unlimited mileage manufacturer's warranty.

It will also benefit from Kymco's 'Anywhere' subsidised insurance scheme. This includes Third Party Only (TPO) and Third Party, Fire and Theft (TPFT) subsidised packages with 12 months breakdown cover included. TPO cover starts from just £99 and TPFT cover starts from £199 - terms and conditions apply.
