Rubena, the Czech Republic bicycle tyres and tubes brand, has quickly taken a strong foothold in the UK and its trade distributor Bike Tyrestore is celebrating its first full year of trading on these shores by way of putting something back into the sport.

Joining forces with Essex County Council's summer mountain bike race series Mud, Sweat and Gears (MSG), Rubena will help to support cycling at grass roots level for the second part of the Eastern Region's eight-round challenge.

MSG was formed by Essex County Council in 2008 with the purpose of starting a MTB Olympic legacy in the area. It has grown from just one event in that first year to eight rounds in 2013, one of which is in Cambridgeshire. Such is the credibility of the series that it has been recognised by British Cycling and awarded the final round of the National MTB XC series which will be held on the Olympic MTB course at Hadleigh Farm, Essex.

The MSG events cater for riders of all capabilities from under-12 through to elite racers and boast over 700 competitors for the current year. The remaining rounds are:-

Sunday 14th July, Secret Nuclear Bunker, Kelvedon Hatch, Essex
Sunday 4th August, Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Cambridgeshire
Sunday 8th September, Langdon Hills, Essex
Sunday 29th September, Hadleigh Farm, Essex
