The Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) is looking for an office administrator with a genuine interest in rider safety, to start as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will need excellent written and spoken English and be confident on the phone.

The starting salary is £18,000 with a good benefits package.

This is a great job for someone starting a career in the industry and comes highly recommended by the outgoing administrator Marc Slater, who is moving to PR company, HPS Jardine - where he will work on the World of BMW account.

"The MCIA has been a fantastic training ground for me. Working here has given me a unique opportunity to learn about many different aspects of the motorcycle industry from training and safety to the way the wider industry operates commercially, as well as being able to keep abreast of legal changes to licensing."

Jenny Luckman, who is office manager at the MCIA, says the role of administrator is varied and will require someone who can work on their own initiative across a variety of MCIA projects.

"The successful candidate will need to be able to switch between a number of safety projects, run by the MCIA, as well as the Association's various booking services. As the job will include dealing with queries, a confident telephone manner and an ability to solve problems are essential."

Karen Cole, Safety and Training Director says that as the MCIA's contact centre staff are all experienced riders, the successful candidate should hold a motorcycle licence, or at least be planning to take one in the near future:

"Not having a licence should not be a barrier to a particularly well qualified candidate, but they will need to complete training as soon as they begin working for the MCIA, as all staff in the contact centre must be able to understand the needs of bikers."

She added, "We are a friendly bunch and are looking forward to welcoming a new member of staff to what will be a challenging but rewarding role, offering great exposure to the nuts and bolts of the motorcycle industry".
