John Woolley has been appointed as the new Managing Director for Black Horse Motor & Leisure Finance, replacing Phil Stones, who retired at the beginning of the year, following a minor heart attack in 2005.
John took the reigns of the operation on 21st March 2006, and will have responsibility for the profitability and growth of Black Horse Motor, Motorcycle, Caravan, Fleet Finance and Joint Finance Companies, ensuring that all areas within the Motor & Leisure division meet their various targets.

John started his career with United Dominions Trust (UDT) as a new business representative for Derby in 1979. He then held a number of key Branch Manager, Business Centre Manager and specialist Sales positions before being promoted to Regional Director for the Midlands in1994.
In 1997, John accepted the position of Sales Director in one of the Joint Finance Companies, namely Shogun Finance Limited, but rejoined Lloyds UDT in 2000 to work on the imminent merger of Lloyds UDT and Chartered Trust.
In 2001, following the launch of the Black Horse brand, John was appointed  Regional Director for the Midlands for Black Horse Motor Finance, overseeing five areas - spreading from Belfast to Peterborough. He was later appointed as Operations Director in 2005.
John Davies, Managing Director of Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division said, "Given John's exceptional management capabilities and his relevant experience he was the ideal candidate for the job."
John explains that, "I am keen to build on the legacy Phil Stones has left me, and continue to maintain the market leading position that Black Horse already enjoys at the point of sale, as well as continuing to grow market share.
"Coming from a sales background, and having worked closely with dealers over many years, I know how important is it to continue to lead the fight against direct lenders, as well as being innovative and forward thinking in our ideas to support them in their efforts."
John, who turns 50 in November, married Julie in 1979, one week before starting with UDT. They live in Melbourn in Hertfordshire and have two children, Joanne (24) and Andrew (21).
In his spare time, John enjoys all sports, but particularly enjoys playing golf. Given his enthusiasm for the outdoor life, he is a keen member of the National Trust and the RSPB, as well as claiming to be a wizard wine maker!
