INTERMOT Cologne, the leading international fair for motorcycles, scooters and e-bikes, is known to both trade and private visitors as a fair for all the big vehicle manufacturers and other top players to present their world premieres.

Now INTERMOT Cologne 2014 is to be the host  the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building 2014.

For ten years, the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building has been the industry’s main international event. The competition will be held in five different categories, the official World Championship title will be awarded in the “FreeStyle” category. Manufacturers can qualify to take part in the World Championship through national championships around the globe. Until 2012, the final took place annually in the USA, among others at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, one of the biggest motorcycle events in the world. In 2013, the competition was held outside of the USA for the first time. From October 2014, the World Championship shall be a fixed component of the INTERMOT Cologne.

“INTERMOT provides excellent numbers of visitors and the possibility of addressing the industry directly. A platform of this magnitude was our goal”, explains Robin Bradley, organiser of the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building, as the reason for the change. “This is helping us to promote the custom bike scene and the industry. Since custom is also becoming an ever more relevant topic in development.”

“We are pleased to host the AMD World Championship 2014 and to be able to provide another added value with this cooperation to visitors and exhibitors alike”, adds Christoph Werner, vice president of the Koelnmesse Trade Fair management team. “We are  managing to exhibit a new communication and business platform as well as other incentives.”

Detailed information on the classes and the time schedule of the competition will be announced in February.

INTERMOT Cologne as an internationally leading trade fair for trade and private visitors will be providing a wide range of exhibitors from around the world in 2014, in a highly innovative environment, as well as an excellent supporting programme with information and entertainment events, test tracks and award ceremonies.
