NEW SERVICE TO UNDERSTAND ONLINE COPYRIGHT LAWS
March 13 2014.

The Intellectual Property Office, a government agency, has issued guidance on copyright law to help individuals and SMEs understand their legal rights and obligations when posting images online.

With social media becoming so widely used it’s easy to forget legal responsibilities when placing images online. The government’s “copyright notices service” aims to help individuals understand the complexities of copyright law.

The tool provides guidance for when uploading and using images on the internet. It also includes advice for situations where uploaders want to use photos taken by a professional photographer as well as those elements to consider before uploading them to social media sites.
