Motorcycle helmets and protective continue to evolve in terms of technological advancement and riders naturally want the best crash protection available.

According to specialist insurance broker Bikesure, safety conscious bikers can spend more than £1,000 on a set of standard race leathers, and another £500 for a high-quality helmet and so it has increased the limits on its helmet and leather insurance from £1,000 to up to £2,000 for those with a Bikesure motorcycle policy.

Cover includes motorcycle clothing, including leathers, riding boots, gloves and helmets damaged as a result of an accident in the UK, and prices range from £24.99 for £1,000 of cover, to £29.99 for £1,500 and up to £34.99 for a £2,000 limit. A standalone policy with a limit of £1,000 is also available for those with their motorcycle insurance elsewhere.

Gerry Bucke, general manager at Bikesure, said; “However good the rider, the roads can be a dangerous place for bikers and good quality protective gear is essential. But with technology improving all the time, helmets and leathers can cost a lot of money, and will often need to be replaced following an accident. That’s why we’re improving our cover to reflect the fact that serious bikers now want the best protection they can afford.”
