January 28 2015.

As figures released by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) reveal that the number of new motorcycle registrations in the UK are rising year-on-year, leading vehicle marketplace, BCA, continues to support the used motorbike sector with a full programme of sales in 2015.

All sales take place at BCA Peterborough, Boongate, PE1 5AH on the last Friday of every month at 1pm (excluding December which takes place on the 11th) and all are welcome to attend and bid.

The annual motorbike sales programme opens this Friday, January the 30th, when around fifty ‘bikes will be on offer including dealer part-exchange bikes and private entries. The following month, on February 27th, BCA will feature a special entry of ‘bikes from Black Horse and BMW Finance, with around 200 motorcycles on sale including many high-end road bikes and performance models, as well as a wide selection of mopeds and quads.

James Rowberry, Motorcycle Specialist, BCA commented: “Both the new and used motorbike markets enjoyed a strong 2014 and we are expecting plenty of interest over the coming year. The Motorcycle Industry Association is predicting a 10% uplift in new bike sales in 2015 and that means lots more choice for used buyers as more part-exchange bikes enter the market.

"For buyers unfamiliar with auction, Rowberry offers the following tips “First time attendees are often surprised by the range of ‘bikes on offer and the general speed of the proceedings as it takes around a minute to sell a bike. With this in mind it is sensible not to buy at your first auction – just watch and listen and get used to all the activity.”

He added: “Once you decide to buy, however, do your research on the ‘bike that interests you and set a budget on how much you are prepared to bid. The BCA website (bca.co.uk) carries full catalogue listings and images of every vehicle we have for sale and you can browse the entire motorcycle catalogue at your leisure.

“On the day of the sale arrive in good time and look around. Walk the line-up of ‘bikes and examine the stock on offer and note down the lot numbers that interest you. All the ‘bikes are ridden thought the auction hall so keep an eye on the lot numbers as they are sold. Bid clearly but don’t get too possessive about a particular bike if the bidding goes over your budget – it’s better to walk away than pay over the odds.”
