March 24 2016.

After a highly popular debut year, R&G is excited to confirm that the R&G Rookies' Trophy will be returning in 2016 with more support for riders. Eligible for all riders making their debut in any MCE British Superbike Championship classes that accompany the series, the overall winner will receive a £500 cash prize, as well as £1000 worth of product support from R&G for 2017.

With the 2015 season seeing rookies shine in every class, from Luke Mossey in Superbikes through to eventual R&G Rookies' Trophy winner Scott Deroue in Moto3, R&G is excited to be bringing the Trophy back for 2016.

Open to competitors who are riding their first full season in their respective class, the Trophy will see the likes of new BSB riders such as Glenn Irwin and James Rispoli go head to head with the likes of young Supersport racer Tarran Mackenzie. Each eligible rider will be judged using the same criteria over the season, with the overall winner of the 2016 R&G Rookies' Trophy being awarded £500 in cash and an additional £1000 in product support from R&G, which they can take to their team. The winner will also receive the R&G Rookies' Trophy in a special podium presentation at the final round of the season at Brands Hatch.

In addition to the overall prize, Eurosport presenter James Whitham will be choosing a rider at each round as his 'Rookie of the Meeting', which will be based upon performance, conduct and effort over the course of the three days. The winner will receive a set of R&G Aero Knee Sliders, which will be presented on the grid at the following meeting.

Alongside the Trophy, as an Official Supplier to the MCE British Superbike Championship, R&G will have a noticeable presence in the paddock with its Paddock Support service and circuit branding.

MCE BSB Series Director, Stuart Higgs, commented: "The R&G Rookies’ Trophy proved to be a great success last year, so we’re very excited to have it returning for 2016. As has become customary, this season sees a strong line-up of newcomers joining the series and riders stepping up to new classes, so the Rookies’ Trophy is a perfect way to reward them.”

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett added “Racing has always been at the core of R&G, it’s what we do, and allows us to continue to develop and expand our product ranges. We also pride ourselves on supporting the stars of tomorrow, no matter which class they race in. We’re very pleased to be bringing the R&G Rookies’ Trophy back for another year, and I’m certain it’s going to be just as close a competition as last year!”
