In its drive to deter illegal immigration, the government has increased the penalties on employers who hire illegal workers. Chloe Themistocleous examines the implications in the latest issue of Motorcycle Trader.

“As Brexit beckons, employers need to ensure their employees have the right to work in their business in the UK. In 2016, both the offences and penalties relating to the employment of illegal workers broadened significantly, meaning mistakes can be extremely costly.

“Different documents must be used for employees who have a permanent right to work in comparison to those who have a time-limited right to work. A full list can be found in the Home Office’s Employer’s guide on the website.”
