In its latest newsletter, the National Motorcycle Dealers Association (NMDA) reports that the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is developing an MOT reminder service to ensure that motorcycle owners get their bikes tested on time.

At any one time, a significant number of motorcycles and cars will be overdue an MOT, yet research shows the vast majority of these are not down to people deliberately not getting an MOT, but rather they just need to be reminded to get it done on time. The DVSA want to make sure these vehicles are given an MOT on time so that dangerous faults are found and drivers can get them fixed.

Riders and drivers will be able to sign up to get an email one month before their machine’s MOT is due, and they’ll get another email if they still have not had the vehicle tested two weeks before the MOT is due.

The agency has a degree of user research and testing to complete prior to launching the service but, once live, it will be easily available on the website.
