The Motorcycle Industry Association has just one remit, and that is to protect, promote and expand the industry on behalf of its members.

July and August proved to be busy months for the Association, with many high-profile topics on the MCIA agenda;

• Motorcycle theft is always top of the list for the industry and, on this front, Karen Cole took the role of lead liaison for the MCIA. At the beginning of August, she attended the launch of a campaign run by West Midlands Police, which asks riders to use visible security.

• The MASTER scheme was on the radar for Scottish Police and asked MCIA to stage a workshop for 50 officers working in the field.

• New data protection regulations will hit all businesses from May 2018 and the MCIA ran a data protection workshop with legal firm Radius Law to explain what these changes could mean.

This is just a snapshot of the work the MCIA has been involved with in recent months. For the bigger picture, look out for the September issue of Motorcycle Trader landing with the trade and industry in the first week of September 2017.
