Oxford Products has purchased its next-door neighbour, Convenience Distribution Oxford Ltd (CDO). CDO is a wholesale distribution business which offers a ‘one-stop-shop for the supply of leading brands to the forecourt, motorist centres and convenience markets.

Established in 2003 by Robert Drake, the company currently operates within a defined territory under the umbrella of the Convenience Distribution Group.

Established in 1973, OXFORD is a global leader in motorcycle and bicycle aftermarket products. The company sells a huge range of OXFORD-branded parts and accessories in over 90 countries worldwide, as well as distributing a number of other leading global brands in the UK.

CDO joins an expanding Oxford Group Of Companies. The group encompasses Witney-based Oxford Products, Oxford Products USA of Jacksonville (Florida) and specialist motorcycle brand distributor Tri-Motive Ltd, which is headquartered in Swansea (South Wales).

CDO will continue to operate “business as usual” from the same building, with the same staff and management.

A new board of directors will find opportunities to share sourcing expertise and distribution capabilities in order to help both businesses to grow. Although the purchase provides a stronger financial backbone for CDO, the only obvious difference will be the view from its 12,000 sq ft distribution centre. This is because Oxford will use the(currently empty)1.5acres of land in front of CDO’s HQ to build a much-needed extension to its own 100,000 sq ft distribution centre. The new building will provide in excess of 50% more warehouse and office space to facilitate the group’s ambitious plans for growth.

Managing Director Andrew Hammond, who has overseen a decade of powerful growth at Oxford, put together the transaction with CDO’s previous owners: “We are delighted to welcome CDO to the Oxford Group. The CDO team has built a great business and we will enjoy using our combined knowledge and expertise to enhance both companies.”
