One of the oldest established motorcycle businesses in the UK, Wildmans Motorcycles in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, which still uses its original premises, is now under new ownership.

The new owner is 18-year-old old Chris Lake, who is just finishing his motorcycle apprenticeship with the firm. Previous boss Peter McDowell had owned Wildmans since 2005. The business was established in 1926. The dealership is still located at the site on which it began, the local blacksmith’s forge — the blacksmith’s house was converted into the motorcycle showroom and is still used as such to this day.

Owner Lake will be the firm’s main mechanic, with Alan Fixter carrying out servicing and repair work. McDowell, who is retiring, will remain on standby to help during busy periods.
