|PLANNING FOR INTERMOT COLOGNE 2008?
May 30 2008.
To ensure that their visit to the fair runs perfectly smoothly right from the start, exhibitors, visitors or journalists should begin planning their trip to the INTERMOT Cologne 2008 (8th to 12th October 2008) as early as possible.
Special conditions offered by German Railways (Deutsche Bahn - DB), bargain-rate flights and a broad selection of accommodation packages are available to trade fair visitors in and around Cologne.
In recent years Cologne/Bonn Airport has developed into a hub for the so-called Low-Cost Carriers. A whole host of airlines are servicing Cologne at very attractive, value-for-money prices - 100 "Low-Cost Routes" alone are available on the current flight timetable. As a result, visitors to the INTERMOT Cologne can cost-effectively combine their trip to Cologne with additional business appointments in other European countries. The earlier the flights are booked, the greater the opportunity to often secure a particularly favourable rate.
By clicking on the "Hotel Travel Service" link on the INTERMOT Cologne website - www.intermot-cologne.com you can book value-for-money conditions for flights using the Koelnmesse reservation system. And: by taking S-Bahn (suburban train) No. S13 from the Airport, you can reach the Cologne Exhibition Centre Messe/Deutz rail station in just 15 minutes.
Special INTERMOT arrangements using German Railways (Deutsche Bahn -DB)
In cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, Koelnmesse is offering rail travellers a nationwide ticket service for travel to Cologne Messe/Deutz at special rates. Exhibitors and visitors to the INTERMOT
Cologne only pay 69 € Euro within Germany for a ticket to Cologne and back in 2nd Class when the route is not longer than 300 kilometres and they use pre-designated trains (1st Class: 99 Euro). With pre-designated trains, tickets for a route exceeding 300 kilometres to Cologne and back each cost 109 Euro in 2nd and 159 Euro in 1st Class. The free choice of trains is available at a surcharge of EUR 10.00 per km-zone, but is basically not possible on Fridays and Sundays. A seat reservation is not included in the price.
There are also further offers for selected routes from Switzerland (Zurich), the Netherlands (Amsterdam) and Belgium (Brussels) - you can find details at www.intermot-cologne.com
The ticket is only valid when presented along with the print-out of the online registration
as a trade visitor, an admission ticket/exhibitor pass or a journalist's accreditation at the INTERMOT Cologne.
Bookings and reservations can be made by phone via the Deutsche Bahn GmbH hotline
ticket office (DB Dialogue): 01805 / 31 11 53 (EUR 0.14 per minute from the German landline network) stating key word: "INTERMOT Köln 2008".
All-in-one: complete travel packages
Travel to the fair and accommodation can now also be completely and conveniently booked via the INTERMOT Cologne Internet website. Within the framework of its hotel services, Koelnmesse cooperates with 75 partner hotels in Cologne and 34 residences in the surrounding area, for which it offers the best possible conditions.
Via the "Hotel / Travel Services" link on the INTERMOT Cologne website, Koelnmesse, in cooperation with one of the world's largest tour operators, offers the combined booking of hotel rooms, flights and hire cars with considerable price advantages compared to individual bookings.
Get to the exhibition halls quicker in the "Fast Lane"
An early decision to travel to Cologne is definitely recommended. The fastest way for trade visitors and motorbike fans to gain admission to the halls is to register and order their admission tickets in advance via the Internet. Starting on 2nd June 2008, visitors will have access to the visitor registration page as well as the online shop.
Visitors are now able to receive their admission tickets immediately by e-mail. They can then get to the halls using the "Fast Lane" and when travelling to the fair can already use buses, trams and trains free of charge in and around Cologne (within the area covered by the Rhine-Sieg Transport Authority - VRS area). This also includes free travel on S-Bahn (suburban train) No. S13, which provides a fast transfer several times an hour from the Airport to the Koelnmesse Exhibition Centre rail station in just a quarter of an hour.
Environmental zone in force since January
Since 01.01.2008 Cologne city centre has been an environmental zone which may only be entered by vehicles in Emissions Groups 2 to 4 bearing the corresponding stickers. Visit - www.stadt-koeln.de
Access to Koelnmesse is guaranteed for all vehicles, even those without a sticker. Direct travel beyond these routes, for example into Cologne city centre, is however only permitted for those vehicles with the corresponding stickers. Trade fair participants from Germany and abroad with correspondingly designated vehicles can obtain the sticker for access to the environmental zone at www.umwelt-plakette.de
Further measures such as corresponding services at Cologne hotels and the Exhibition Centre
are being planned.
