TAKE THE LONG WAY DOWN WITH ARAI
August 21 2008.

Phoenix has announced that the Arai Tour X3 is now available and replicas of the Tour X3, as used by Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor in the BBC TV series Long Way Down, are now available to UK Arai dealerships.

The intrepid duo put motorcycling into the mainstream with their exploits and Phoenix were delighted to supply both Ewan and Charlie with the original Arai Tour X for both the Long Way Round and Long Way Down series.

The new Tour X3 has a re-designed peak with reinforced ridges and a new enlarged visor/peak holder pressure plate. Both of these new innovations give the helmet better stability at speed. The peak is detachable for more road based riding, leaving the visor only. Conversely, the visor can be removed if you prefer a more `off-road' type of look and wish to wear goggles. The Dry Cool(R) interior is fully washable and removable and uses the new Emergency release tab cheekpads which ensure the helmet can be removed quickly and easily should the need arise.

Typical Arai safety features, such as the Super Fibre Construction outer shell, triple density inner shell and the D ring chinstrap fastening help make the Tour X3 one of the best adventure touring helmets that money can buy. Like every other Arai, the Tour X3 is subjected to the same rigorous multiple impact tests and a 3kgs heavy, shell piercing rig. Some 18 man hours go into each and every hand-made Arai helmet. A range of different sized outer shells and six different cheek pad options allow the perfect fit for any rider - comfort which is so important on long distance tours.

One thing every off-road rider knows about is ventilation, as controlling a bike in mud, or across rocky terrain takes real physical effort and it's easy for perspiration to form, however, the Arai Tour X 3 rider can keep their cool with the new, fully adjustable vent system, featuring Delta Ducts set on the top of the outer shell and lever-activated diffuser vents.

There's a variable airflow vent in the chinbar section, which can be set to direct air up the inside of the visor, to help de-mist in damp or humid weather, or set for a side exit flow to draw the rider's breath away. Keeping your face and head cool, plus your visor clear, when adventure riding means you're more alert, relaxed and therefore a safer rider. A Pinlock insert also now comes with every Tour X3 to ensure clear vision at all times.

The Arai Tour X3 helmet is available in sizes XS-XL and a range of colour schemes, from Diamond White/Black, Aluminium Grey (RRP £299.99), Motard Silver, Motard Black (RRP £349.99) to Long Way Down replicas in blue or red (RRP £359.99).
